The Karst Conservancy is a national level land trust dedicated to protecting karst. Karst is a geologic term used to describe regions characterized by sinkholes, underground streams, and caverns. These areas are significant sources of water for 73 million people in the United States, but they are very vulnerable to groundwater contamination. Karst landscapes also contain rare and endangered species, spectacular geologic formations, and historical human records.
